The labours mobilized for construction of a health post building here have been deprived of wage for long. Rabina Construction Company failed to pay them though it has been long the building was over at Pandavkhani of Galkot Municipality-10. The building construction began in 2073BS and was completed in 2076BS. But the workers, traders and even the hoteliers were not paid by the construction company, said a local Umesh BK. “There are some 55 workers, seven entrepreneurs and other villagers not given the remuneration,” he added.
Another Tilak Pun who also involved in the construction of health post building said the amount in total to be received by all workers is some Rs 1.5 million. Pun alone is waiting for Rs 50,000 due for masonry and house wiring. He further shared, “We moved the District Administration Office and District Police Office against the contractor but there was no hearing at all.” The workers waiting desperately for the wage reached District Police Office last month and registered a complaint.
Although District Administration Office directed the area police office to investigate the non-payment to the workers, the police have not taken any action. Ward Chairman Pun added that among the total payment, 10 percent is still pending. The health post building was made at the cost of Rs 17.7 million provided by the Ministry of Health and Population. With the completion of the building, the delivery of health service has been prompt and easier.
