A total of 78 quintals of food grains was transported to Limi at Namkha Rural Municipality-6 on Monday. Limi is located in the remote northern belt of Humla district. Transportation of rice began via Nepali Army helicopter since Monday, said Chief District Officer Ganesh Acharya, adding that the people in Limi were in imminent threat of hunger because the Hilsa border point linked to China was closed for two years.
The food grains have been taken to Limi via Simkot and Hilsa. Limi would get 502 quintals of rice, he added. Another consignment will continue today too, he added. Ward chair Paljor Tamang informed that the food grains would be distributed to the people of Limi, Halji, Til, and Jang villages.
Paljor had reached Simkot, leading a 27-member team to prod the local administration for immediate supply of rice. Federal lawmaker Rangamati Shahi had also reached Limi to put further pressure on administration to address hunger threat.
