Ravi Demands Probe into Nepal Oil Corporation’s Losses and Questions Price Fluctuations

The president of the National Freedom Party (Raswapa), Ravi Lamichhane, has demanded a true investigation into the losses of Nepal Oil Corporation. Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives on Sunday, he questioned how the corporation, which always distributes bonuses to its employees, incurs losses. He also said, “The corporation imports and trades oil on its own. The regulatory body is also the same; everything is done by itself. The employees are also paid bonuses. But it always incurs losses. What is the reason for the losses?” He further added, “This issue needs to be investigated.”

Similarly, he expressed his anger at the Nepal Oil Corporation for increasing prices according to the international market but not decreasing them when the prices fall. He asked, “If the prices have increased according to the international market, why does it take two days to decrease the prices when they fall?”

Furthermore, he thanked Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda for reversing the price increase by the government before his return to the country and called it a “price freeze”.
