The image-saving and loan cooperative society treasurer, Laxmi Sen Sunar, who was caught in the cooperative scam, has been sent to prison. Baglung District Court has ordered Sunar to be sent to prison for an investigation. According to the same order, the Baglung District Police Office has informed her that she has been sent to prison.

Sunar was arrested on June 10 for embezzling billions of rupees from the depositors, but she had fled. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) had arrested her in Dobighat, Lalitpur Metropolitan City-3. After that, the court in Baglung has ordered her to be sent to prison. She is also accused of embezzling more than 2.5 billion rupees from the cooperative’s director and depositors.

Currently, the chairman of the institution and the mayor of Dhorpatan Municipality, Devkumar Nepali, are still at large. The police have issued a ‘Red Corner’ notice through Interpol to arrest the fugitive Nepali.
