Price of broiler chicken meat started to increase

KATHMANDU

Some time ago, the price of broiler chicken meat started to increase, up to 150 rupees per week. Due to the cold weather, chickens are dying, causing a shortage of broiler chickens in the market, which has led to an increase in the price of meat. In the past week, the price of broiler chicken meat in eastern Nepal has increased to 100 rupees, which is expensive.

Farmers have stated that the price increase is necessary after 50 percent of chickens died. When farmers themselves increase the price, the dealers in the market say that the price of meat has increased on its own.

Currently, the price of broiler chicken meat in eastern Nepal is 450 rupees per kilogram. Just a week ago, the price of broiler chicken meat per kilogram was 350 rupees.

When there is a shortage of broiler chickens on the market, the price of meat becomes expensive. Even though the price of broiler meat has increased in eastern Nepal, it has affected poultry businesses nationwide. Currently, poultry business owners are saying that the trend of price increases started when there was a shortage of chickens on the market.
