Unilever Nepal making strides towards NetZero

Unilever Nepal factory at Hetauda  has recently  commissioned the Electric boiler 1st of it’s kind in Unilever South Asia, an unique technology of generating steam by electrical heaters, this will enable the site to move out of fossil fuel for Heating process , currently 90%  energy consumed at factory is sourced from sustainable energy this includes 20% inhouse solar electricity generation plant & rest 70% is from grid .

In last one year Unilever Factory has installed several new technologies to reduce energy footprint & to reduce Carbon dioxide emission with an investment of 6 Cr NPR. This boiler project is a step towards NetZero.  Site has planned to move to biodiesel to run Diesel Generator in near future. This will enable site to run its operation with 100% green energy.

During the inauguration ceremony, MD and CEO of Unilever Nepal Limited, Mr. Amlan Mukherjee said ‘We at Unilever Nepal is committed to take our operations towards NetZero and this installation of Electric Boiler in our state-of-the-art factory is one such testament towards this sustainability action which in inline with our Global Unilever Sustainable Goals.’
