Kathmandu. A total of 497 electric jeeps, cars and vans worth Rs 1.48 billion have been imported through Birgunj border point in the first seven months of the current fiscal year. The office has collected revenue of Rs 963.6 million from the import of electric vehicles.
In the same period of the last fiscal year, 165 electrical, jeeps, cars and vans worth Rs 430.1 million were imported. The office had collected Rs 35.5 crore revenue from the import of these vehicles.
Udaya Singh Bista, information officer at the Birgunj Customs Office, said that the import of electric vehicles has increased in comparison to the last seven months. A total of 128 electric motorcycles worth Rs 805.7 million were imported in the first seven months of the current fiscal year. In the same period of the last fiscal year, 3,374 electric motorcycles worth Rs 440.3 million were imported.
In the first seven months of the current fiscal year, 609 fuel-powered jeeps, cars and vans were imported with the total value of Rs 1.16 billion. The office collected Rs 2.86 billion in revenue from the import of vehicles. In the first seven months of the last fiscal year, 748 fuel-powered jeeps, cars and vans were imported worth Rs 1.50 billion. Revenue of Rs 3.73 billion was collected from the import of fuel-run vehicles in the review period.
The Office has imported vehicles and spare parts worth Rs 23.57 billion in the first seven months of the current fiscal year. Whereas in the first seven months of the last fiscal year, Rs 13.26 billion was collected from the import of vehicles and spare parts.
