Afghanistan’s carpet exports reach $18 million in a year

Kathmandu. Afghanistan exported carpets and carpets worth $18 million to 37 countries last year. 

According to Abdullah Rahman Kul, head of the carpet union, about 6,000 square meters of carpet and 4,000 square meters of carpet were exported last year. 

The bulk of exports were shipped to the United States, Turkey and European markets. Carpet processing is now underway in the country. It can create employment opportunities for about 50,000 people. 

The carpet industry is the second largest sector in Afghanistan after agriculture, providing direct and indirect employment to 1.2 million people, especially women.
