Kathmandu. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) has organized a pre-budget discussion programme for the coming fiscal year 2083/84. ICAN has organized a pre-budget discussion program on April 18 at ICAN’s central office in Kathmandu.
Various dimensions of the economy were discussed in depth during the program. ICAN has focused on the reform of tax system, strengthening investment climate, role of private sector, effectiveness of revenue collection, management of public expenditure and fiscal discipline.
The organizers expressed the belief that the suggestions received through the program would be a useful basis in the upcoming national budget formulation process. ICAN officials said that this type of pre-budget dialogue is very relevant in the context of Nepal’s economy facing various challenges.
On the other hand, a clear and practical policy is needed to improve economic growth rate, create employment opportunities, increase investment in productive sector and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
Chartered Accountants, economists, representatives from government agencies, leaders from private sector, officials from banks and financial institutions and experts from different walks of life participated in the program.
