Kathmandu. Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has urged consumers to be cautious about fuel consumption. Spokesperson of the corporation, Manoj Thakur, said that the meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Sunday should support the decision of giving a public holiday on Saturday and Sunday.
“We didn’t take the car out and go for a walk. Anyway, we have to reduce fuel consumption. It also needs the contribution of the people. Spokesperson Thakur said, “Currently, the corporation is incurring a loss of Rs 120 per liter.” The government’s decision to give leave to reduce fuel consumption is positive. Consumers should also not consume fuel in non-essential activities, being aware of consumption. ’
A meeting of the Council of Ministers today has decided to give a two-day holiday in the government offices and all the educational institutions to be effective from Monday as the crisis of supply of petroleum products was increasing day by day. Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Sasmit Pokharel, who is also the spokesperson of the government, said that the government has decided to amend the laws to change the number of vehicles using diesel and petrol into electric vehicles in order to reduce fuel consumption.
According to NOC data, 2.5 million liters of petrol and 5 million liters of diesel are consumed every day in the country. According to Thakur, the spokesperson of the corporation, they will have to wait for the next one week to determine how much the government’s decision will contribute to reducing the fuel crisis.
“It takes some time to understand the market demand, but the impact is definitely visible. “Most of the schools are private. Vehicles are consuming a lot of fuel. Also, the use of vehicles is still high as the SEE examination is going on. After the examination is over, the exact data of consumption will come. ’
