Kathmandu. Most of the porters at Yamunotri Dham in Uttarakhand are found to be Nepalis. Most of the porters carrying goods and passengers going to Dham were found to be Nepalis.

They say that they are compelled to work as porters as they do not get employment in the country.

Most of the Nepalis working as porters at Yamunotri Dham are from Achham, Kalikot and Salyan. When they do not find employment in the country, they go to Uttarakhand for work, carrying the luggage of the passengers and passengers going to Dham, up and down about 5 kilometers.

Their daily routine is to carry passengers and passengers’ belongings to reach Yamunotri Dham and back. They say that they are feeding their families by working as porters. See the rest of the image:
