Street festival to be held in Thamel on New Year

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The ‘Thamel Street Festival’ is going to be held in Thamel, the main tourist destination of the federal capital, on the occasion of Nepali New Year 2083.

KATHMANDU: The Thamel Street Festival is going to be held at Tridevi Marg of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26 in Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) today.

Vice-Chairman of the Council, Sahadev Dhamala (Bimal), said that the festival is being organized to make Nepali New Year known at international level.

“On the eve of the New Year, various stalls will be set up on the road inside Thamel to showcase food and goods as well as perform a unique cultural program,” said Dhamala.

According to him, 32 stalls will be set up along the road at Tridevi Marg to promote food and sell goods.

Similarly, various cultural programs will be organized from 6:00 pm to welcome the new year and conclude at 12:30 pm.

Around 80 percent of the foreign tourists visiting Nepal visit Thamel.

According to the Council, a significant number of domestic and foreign tourists will participate in the street festival.
