Students chant slogans against student union dismissal (Photos)

Kathmandu. The Samyukta Vidyarthi Andolan (TU) has staged a march on the Tribhuvan University (TU) campus to protest against the government’s move to ban student organizations affiliated to various political parties.

Students of Tribhuvan University (TU) marched from Ghantaghar to TU Gate and expressed their dissatisfaction over the government’s decision.According to them, the decision to ban student organizations is against the Constitution and democratic values and is a direct interference with civil rights. Therefore, it has been demanded that the decision should be withdrawn immediately.

Meanwhile, the agitating students have also put forward other demands.They have urged educational institutions to stop the practice of barracking and to implement meritocracy (qualification to control the rising inflation.

They have also demanded the government to retain the 45 per cent concession in transport to the students and to withdraw the decision to scrap the Free Students’ Union (FSU) along with the ban on the student organization .With this demand, the students have expressed their disagreement with the decision of the government through the March Pass .
