Kathmandu. There are more than 200 households in Singla in Dharche Rural Municipality-5 of northern Gorkha. Singla village is situated at an altitude of 2100 metres from the sea level.
This village is about 2.30 hours away from Gupsipakha, Laprak village and falls under the Lower Manaslu trekking route.
The main occupations here are agriculture, trekking and foreign employment. The earthquake of 2072 BS had reduced the entire village to ruins. Now the village is slowly rising.
Although the dirt track has been opened in Singla, which is one of the most remote villages of Gorkha district, the vehicles have not been able to reach yet, forcing the locals of the village to walk for hours. Locals from Machhakhola, Laprak and Barpak are transported to the district by carrying daily essentials including food items and using mules for hours.
This village is very beautiful from the tourist point of view from which one can observe Ganesh, Shringi, Buddhist, and other mountains. About 2 hours uphill from the village, at a distance of 3250 meters, is the most picturesque Rukang hill. One can taste the lifestyle, culture, organic food and sweet hospitality of the Gurung community in the village. See the rest of the image:
