Kathmandu. Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Geeta Chaudhary has unveiled an action plan to reform the Dairy Development Corporation (DDC).
Of the outstanding liabilities of around Rs 580 million in the last four months, Rs 120 million has been cleared so far.
The amount is to be paid by June 27. DDC currently conducts a daily turnover of around Rs 10 million. The amount is being paid to the farmers on a daily basis. The remaining amount will be paid in two months, around Rs 460 million.
Minister Chaudhary said that the remaining amount will be deposited in the farmers’ accounts in a phased manner as the daily transaction and payment process is going on regularly. The Ministry has stated that continuous coordination is being made with the bodies concerned to resolve the problems by prioritizing the welfare of the farmers while respecting the labour and contribution of the dairy farmers.
