Denmark, Brazil and South Africa to close embassies

Kathmandu. The government has announced that it will close the embassies in Denmark, Brazil and South Africa.

Presenting the budget for the fiscal year 2083/84 in the joint meeting of the federal parliament, Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle has announced to scrap the Nepali embassies in Denmark, Brazil and South Africa, the Consulate General in Chengdu, San Francisco and the branches of the Embassy in Visakhapatnam.

The budget has also made provision to make the constitutional bodies resourceful to strengthen their performance. The budget has announced to end policy corruption by formulating laws to maintain good governance in the country. The budget has presented a plan to end policy-level corruption by formulating laws related to conflict of interest.

“Recovery, confiscation, recovery and management will be made more effective by linking the bodies concerned with an integrated information system for the effective management of criminal property,” reads the budget. ‘

The ‘Hello Sarkar’ mechanism will be developed as a platform for government-citizen dialogue. It has been mentioned in the budget that digital time cards will be implemented in government offices.

The budget has also stated that the system related to civil services such as land revenue, transport, passport, personal event registration and social security management would be strengthened by using the national identity card as the basic identity card for public service delivery.
