Kathmandu. The government is preparing to distribute the land ownership certificates to the genuine squatters. Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration Pratibha Rawal said the land ownership certificates would be distributed to the landless squatters within the next few weeks.
At present, the squatters living on the banks of rivers in Kathmandu have been kept in holding centers in different places.
The real squatters are being identified in the holding center. Minister Rawal said that the government is preparing to distribute the land ownership certificates after identifying the real landless squatters.
Meanwhile, the government is preparing to provide Rs 15,000 per month as house rent for the management of landless squatters until the land ownership certificates are distributed. Committee President Hari Dhakal had informed about the preparations in a meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee held on May 14.
