Illegally written ‘Doctor’ in front of his name, 3 years in jail!

Kathmandu. Action will be taken against those who write ‘doctor’ in front of the name illegally. Action will be taken against those who write ‘doctor’ in front of their name without being legally registered with the Medical Council and the concerned council. 

Issuing an urgent notice, the Medical Council has said that it will take action against those who write ‘doctor illegally’ in front of the name by adopting the ‘zero tolerance policy. 

According to Clause 26 and 27 of the Nepal Medical Council Act, 2020, those who write ‘doctor’ in front of their name will be jailed for three years or a fine up to three00 or both. 

Along with this, the council has also ordered the removal of the doctor’s name on social media including signboards, visiting cards, Facebook, TikTok or Instagram.“Illegally prescribing as a doctor in front of the name and writing a prescription for a drug will have an adverse impact on public health,” the council said. 

According to the Nepal Medical Council Act, 2020, a person should be registered with the NMC for examining, counseling and recommending allopathic medicines under the modern medical system.
