Kathmandu. Independent lawmaker Mahabir Pun has demanded the opening of a new taxi registration. Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives, lawmaker Pun demanded the opening of a new registration of taxis. 

Lawmaker Pun has demanded the removal of the new taxi registration system saying syndicate has flourished due to the suspension of new taxi registration.Pun said that although the population of Kathmandu has increased significantly in the last two decades, the number of taxis has not increased . 

According to him, around 7,500 taxis were registered in 2057 BS and 1,500 more taxis were added after the 2015 earthquake.

Likewise, lawmaker Pun accused the government of deliberately stopping the registration of taxis and demanded the government to increase the number of taxis and provide opportunities to the citizens who want to become self-employed.
