Kathmandu. Nepal has been awarded the ‘Most Charming Tourism Destination’ in Guangzhou of China. The award was extended to Nepal amidst the Guangzhou International Tourism Fair held in Guangzhou of China from May 21-23.
Nepal was awarded for its recognition of its natural beauty, spirituality, cultural diversity and attraction of adventurous tourism, according to Nepal Tourism Board.
Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) had coordinated Nepal’s participation in the three-day international tourism fair under the theme ‘Nepal: A Lifetime Experience’. On the occasion, Nepal apprised the international visitors and travel trade entrepreneurs about the various possibilities of cultural, religious, adventurous, outdoor and luxury tourism.
Guangzhou is an important market for the promotion of Nepal’s tourism as it is a major commercial and tourism center near Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area. According to the Nepal Tourism Board, there is high potential for attracting Chinese tourists especially in the wellness, religious, cultural and luxury tourism sectors.
On May 21, a cultural dance performance was organized on the opening day of the fair. Chinese visitors and tourism entrepreneurs were briefed about Nepali art, culture and tourism heritage.
In the inaugural session, Nepal Tourism Board senior manager Bimal Kandel made a country presentation on Nepal’s tourism potentials, destinations and promotion strategies. He participated in a panel discussion on Nepal’s tourism market expansion strategy.
A total of eight tourism companies from Nepal participated in the fair. The participating companies informed the Chinese and international tourism entrepreneurs about the packages related to trekking, travel, hotel and hospitality.
Currently, Nepal Airlines Corporation and China Southern Airlines are operating direct flights from Kathmandu to Guangzhou. Nepal Tourism Board believes that this will help expand tourism access between Nepal and China and increase the number of Chinese tourists.
