Kathmandu. Similarly, Rs 127.69 billion has been collected in life insurance premiums. According to the Economic Survey of the current fiscal year released by the Ministry of Finance, Rs 32.53 billion has been collected in non-life insurance premium.
The total insurance premium has increased by 16.1 percent to Rs 160.22 billion as compared to mid-March of the current fiscal year. Among the active insurance policies, the number of life insurance policies stood at 162,59,832 while the number of non-life insurance policies stood at 2,168,045.
According to the survey, a total of Rs 26.84 billion has been paid under life insurance claims till mid-March of the current fiscal year. In the non-life insurance category, Rs 17.31 billion has been paid under 94,215 insurance claims.
A total of 12,430 people have got direct employment in the insurance sector. According to the survey, about 412,452 agents are in indirect employment as of mid-March 2081. A total of 1,224 surveyors and 16 reinsurance agents who assessed the loss of the non-life insurance business got employment.
