Kathmandu. A meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) has appointed Dr KC to the post of Chief Justice. Manoj Sharma’s name has been unanimously endorsed. The committee, which held a hearing on Tuesday , decided to endorse Sharma’s name after the conclusion of the hearing. 

Sharma has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, who is the fourth ranking Justice out of the 6 recommended by the Judicial Council.

The secretariat of the parliament will now send information about the decision to endorse Sharma’s name for the post of Chief Justice to the Office of the President. After this, Sharma will be formally appointed to the post of Chief Justice. 

The businessmen are currently protesting against the issue of appointment of the Chief Justice. Expressing dissatisfaction over the Constitutional Council’s recommendation of Sharma’s name in violation of the previous tradition of seniority, the lawmakers have also protested by lighting lanterns in the afternoon.
