Sudhan Gurung to form committee to investigate Gurung

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: A committee has been formed to investigate into the case of former Home Minister Sudhan Gurung. The government has formed a committee to study and investigate the questions raised against Gurung.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on May 12 decided to form a committee comprising former judge of the High Court, Achyut Prasad Bhandari as chairperson, Auditor General Shobhakanta Poudel and Joint Attorney General Achyut Mani Neupane as members.

The committee has been mandated to submit its report along with suggestions to the government within 15 days after fact-finding and investigation into the questions raised against Gurung.

Gurung had resigned from the post of Home Minister after he was dragged into a controversy over his alleged nexus with controversial businessman Deepak Bhatta. After his resignation, Prime Minister Balendra Shah (Balen) has taken charge of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
