Kathmandu. Thailand’s Cabinet of Ministers ({{} on Tuesday made sweeping revisions to the visa waiver policies and decided to scrap the 60-day visa-free visa-free facility available to tourists from 93 countries and regions. According to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the new provision has been implemented to make the entry process more systematic and strong, taking into account national security, tourism economy and diplomatic reciprocity.
This policy will come into effect 15 days after the publication in the official Royal Gazette.Director General of the Department of Consular Affairs Mungkorn Pratumkaule said that from now on, only one visa waiver scheme will be implemented for each country or region to eliminate duplication in visa facilities.
He clarified that the 60-day visa waiver granted to 93 countries has been completely revoked. Similarly, the government has reduced the number of countries from 57 to 54 from 57 for a 30-day visa waiver. This 30-day facility will henceforth be used only for tourism purposes.
The cabinet has also introduced a new 15-day visa waiver scheme for citizens of three countries. In addition, the visa-on-arrival (visa-on-arrival) ( program has also been drastically reduced. Earlier, 31 countries and territories were getting this facility, but now it has been limited to just 4, the Director General said .
