Kathmandu. Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal made an on-site inspection of the construction of the new parliament hall in Singha Durbar and expressed his displeasure over the delay in the construction work.

Speaker Aryal, who inspected the hall along with the staff of the Parliament Secretariat, directed the contractors to provide the exact date for the operation of the hall. He also threatened to impose a fine of up to Rs 10 million daily if the work was not completed within the stipulated time.

Although preparations were made to present the budget for the coming fiscal year from the same hall on May 29, the budget was presented from the old parliament building after the construction work could not be completed on time. The Speaker expressed his objection saying the Parliament Hall has not been fully ready so far despite the commitment made time and again to complete the construction.

In course of the inspection, Minister for Urban Development and Ministry Secretary were summoned and directed to complete the construction work at the earliest. Expressing anger towards the construction company and the bodies concerned, Speaker Aryal made it clear that any further excuse would not be acceptable now.

He said, “We have to fulfill what we have to say even if we work day and night.” You are making excuses again and again. You may not have ignored us, but this is an insult to the parliament and the nation. Now I need a clear conclusion. ”

On the occasion, Speaker Aryal directed the bodies concerned to complete the construction works within the stipulated time, saying the delay in the construction of the Parliament Building has affected the country’s prestige. See the rest of the image:
