Director General of Passport Department sent to 4-day detention

Kathmandu. The Special Court has remanded Director General of Department of Passport Tirtha Raj Aryal to judicial custody for 4 days.

A three-member bench of Special Court Chairman Sudarshan Dev Bhatta and Justices Umesh Koirala and Bidur Koirala remanded Aryal to custody for four days.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had arrested Aryal for investigation into the passport purchase scam. The court also remanded Director of the Department, Sunil Kumar Regmi, in custody for 4 days.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had sought permission to keep him in custody for 20 days, but the court allowed him to be kept in custody for only four days. They are being investigated on corruption charges, according to the CIAA.
