Excise duty transactions to be done only after taking permission

Kathmandu. The Fund and Financial Comptroller Office, Rasuwa has urged the entrepreneurs concerned to sell and transact excise duty products like alcohol, tobacco, gutkha only after taking permission as per the law.

The colony has made it clear that it has received information that alcohol and tobacco products are being traded without permission and urged all not to work against the law and action would be taken as per the Excise Duty Act if found doing so.

The Colony has given priority to public awareness after it was found that some entrepreneurs of the district headquarters Dhunche, Syafrubesi, Timure, Thambuchet, Betrawati, Jibjibe, Parachyang among other business places were selling alcohol and tobacco products without obtaining license.

Chief Fund Controller Bindhya Karki said the public awareness programme has been launched with the participation of representatives of district-based chamber of commerce and industry and related entrepreneurs.

According to Chief Fund Controller Karki, only 74 entrepreneurs from Gosainkunda Rural Municipality, one from Amachhodingmo Rural Municipality, 24 from Kalika Rural Municipality, four from Naukunda Rural Municipality and six from Uttargaya Rural Municipality have taken permission to sell excise duty.

Kolinika has drawn the attention of the concerned parties to start their profession only after obtaining license as soon as possible as a significant number of businessmen are still found doing business in the district without obtaining license. Chief Fund Controller Karki said that one has to obtain a permanent account number (PAN) from the Inland Revenue Office, Galchhi to get excise duty permission.

The municipality has collected Rs 899,750 revenue from the head of excise duty from mid-July to mid-April of the current fiscal year.
