Kathmandu. A total of Rs 27.99 million has been collected from the local level for the purchase of land required for the construction of a well-equipped building of Galkot Municipal Hospital in Baglung.
The amount has been collected from the campaign launched for the management of hospital land, purchase and purchase of medical equipment. Tanka Bahadur KC, treasurer of the Economic and Land Management Committee of Galkot Municipality, said that Rs 27.99 million has been raised so far through the campaign. Out of this amount, Rs 20 million has been spent on the purchase of land for the hospital and Rs 19.10 million has been used to purchase X-ray machines. According to the committee, Rs 22.175 million has been spent so far and Rs 72.87 million in bank reserves.
The fund was collected by forming a financial and land management committee for the upgradation of Galkot Municipal Hospital, expansion of infrastructure and management of land required for long-term development. The people of Galkot living in different districts of the country and abroad had provided financial support to the campaign. Locals were involved in adding other infrastructures along with the well-equipped building of the hospital in the village.
Bharat Sharma Gaire, mayor of Galkot municipality, informed that the locals have taken active steps to transfer the land in front of the hospital in front of the hospital at Harichaur of Galkot municipality-5. He expressed happiness over the locals raising around Rs 30 million for the upgradation of Galkot Municipal Hospital and expansion of quality health service. The land management campaign was launched with the objective of making the hospital more systematic, well-equipped and citizen-friendly.
According to the hospital in-charge Dr Rajesh Sharma, the expansion of additional health services, management of modern equipment and land management have helped to run specialist medical services. About two and a half ropanis of land adjoining the hospital has been brought in the name of the hospital for upgrading the hospital. Pawan Hamal, ward chair of Galkot municipality-5, said that the land was purchased at the initiative of the locals as the hospital needed land in the name of the hospital.
