Kathmandu. Chairman of the Securities Board of Nepal Dr. A meeting was held between Gopal Prasad Bhatta and representatives of Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA). The discussion was held focusing on the participation of NRNA in the capital market of Nepal.
On the occasion, Board Chairman Bhatta also expressed his commitment to carry out necessary works to bring NRNA into the capital market of Nepal.
Stating that the government has included the topic of participation of Non-Resident Nepalis in the capital market in the budget for the current fiscal year, Chairman Bhatta said that the Board would also move ahead by including this program in the capital market policy of the current fiscal year.
He also pledged to make necessary facilitation so that the skills, knowledge and capital of the Non-Resident Nepalis could be linked to the infrastructure development of Nepal.
On the occasion, representatives of Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) said that an environment conducive for NRNs to invest in Nepal’s securities market has been created due to the initiatives taken by the Government of Nepal and SEBON. They said that the investment company established with the joint investment of the government and NRNs will raise money by issuing ordinary shares to Non-Resident Nepalis and Nepalis living abroad through the public issue and invest the amount in the physical infrastructure development of Nepal.
The company also plans to raise funds through bonds and debentures for specific projects in the future and have requested SEBON to facilitate the necessary legal reforms.
