Kathmandu. In the last fiscal year, Chhurpi worth Rs 1.79 billion was exported from Mechi Customs Office, the main trade point of the country.

The export of Nepali chhurpi has increased by 27 percent in the last fiscal year compared to the previous fiscal year due to the continuous increase in demand for Nepali chhurpi in the international market.

According to the Mechi Customs Office, chhurpi worth Rs 1.41 billion was exported in the fiscal year 2081/82.

According to Mankal Rai, information officer at the office, the export of chhurpi has been increasing continuously for the past five years. It is used as food for dogs and cats. Mainly Chhurpi is produced in Ilam, Panchthar and Taplejung.
