Kathmandu. CHITWAN — The jungle safari service inside the Chitwan National Park (CNP) is to be closed from today. The park has closed the safari during the rainy season citing inconvenience to the tourists due to floods, falling of trees and obstructing the road.
CNP’s information officer Avinash Thapa Magar said the safari service has been suspended until further notice.
“The rainy season is a good time for breeding wild animals and birds, spoiling of the unpaved paths inside the national park, flooding in small streams and rivulets in the jungle and falling of trees obstructing the road. “, he said.
The park has been shutting down safaris during the rainy season every year. There is a tradition of opening safari inside the park around Dashain depending on the condition of the rainy season.
He said although the safari inside the park has been stopped, the safari in the community forests will not be stopped. Jeeps from Sauraha, Kasara, Meghauli, Madi and Nawalparasi of Chitwan enter the national park for commercial safari. Tourists who come here enjoy safari in jeeps to see the forest and wildlife.
