Encourage farmers to rear cattle in Pokhara

Kathmandu. Pokhara—Pokhara Metropolitan City (PMC) has provided improved varieties of seeds to farmers rearing oxen. In the fiscal year 2081/82, 550 bulls of 19 wards were provided with an incentive of Rs 5.5 million at the rate of Rs 10,000.

Manohar Kadariya, chief of the Agriculture Division of the metropolis, said that the incentives were provided to the farmers for the protection of traditional agriculture system.

The tendency to leave the land barren has also decreased after the farmers rearing cattle were given subsidies. The metropolis has provided the highest amount to farmers from Ward No. 21 (84), (84) from Ward No. 16, (62) from Ward No. 24, 51 from Ward No. 23, 48 from Ward No. 20 and 28 from Ward No. 22.

Similarly, 31 of Ward No. 18, 32 of Ward No. 28, 38 of Ward No. 31, 29 of Ward No. 33 and 39 of Ward No. The incentives were provided to 12 farmers of ward no 13, eight of ward 19, six of ward 27, five of ward 26, three of ward 25, 11 of ward 32, two of ward no 6 and one farmer of ward no 15÷.
