Finance Minister concerned about stock market, directs investors to pay attention to asset security

Kathmandu. Finance Minister Dr. KATHMANDU: Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) has said that the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) should carry out its responsibility effectively by regulating quality for the sustainable development of the capital market.

Finance Minister Wagle has directed the board leadership to work keeping high morality, transparency and interest of investors at the centre. According to the Finance Minister, the Board is trying to move ahead with a long-term vision after the appointment of the new chairman and its positive impact has started to be seen in the market.

Stating that the responsibility of the Board was as important as that of Nepal Rastra Bank, Finance Minister Wagle urged the government to move ahead on the basis of common understanding in consultation with all stakeholders while formulating and regulating laws.

He stressed the need to make the market more credible and competitive by ensuring the safety of investors’ assets.

On the other hand, the chairman of the board, Dr. Gopal Bhatta said that the blueprint for capital market development has been prepared and implemented. According to him, guidelines related to IPO issuance, intra-day transaction, margin lending and short selling in the primary and secondary markets will be prepared within mid-July of the current fiscal year.
