From now on, Indian Rs 2 and Rs 500 can be used in Nepal, bringing, transporting and exchanging up to Rs 25,000.

Kathmandu. Indiancurrency notes of Rs 200 and Rs 500 will now be legal tender in Nepal. The Nepal Rastra Bank has made this provision by making public a new and clear provision related to the transaction and transportation of foreign currency

As per the new provision, the Rs 200 and Rs 500 notes will be legal tender in circulation from November 9, 2016.However, notes issued before that will also be banned.

Similarly, a Nepali or Indian citizen can import, carry andexchange up to thelimit of Indian rupees 25,000 per person, {{} as per the existing provision.If the amount exceeds this threshold, it has to be verified by making a mandatory customs declaration.

The bank has completely prohibited Nepali citizens from carrying Indian currency to countries other than India or bringing them to Nepal from other countries.
