Jimbu Thakali’s first international branch in India

Kathmandu. Jimbu Thakali, a popular destination for authentic Thakali cuisine, is all set to open its first international branch in Gurugram, Haryana, India. According to the company, the restaurant will be operating from July 30 at the commercial premises located in Sector-65, which is known as the main commercial and entertainment center of Gurugram.

Founder of Jimbu Thakali Bibek Man Sherchan said that the branch expansion in India is an initiation of a campaign to promote Nepali food, culture and hospitality in the international market. The aim is to provide authentic Thakali taste to customers in India and other countries to experience Nepal’s culture, hospitality and Himalayan lifestyle.

According to the company, the new branch will offer Thakali food sets, dhindo, buckwheat dishes, gundruk, sukuti, and dishes with the flavors of Jimbu and Timur. To maintain the original taste, indigenous Nepali spices like Jimbu, Timur will be supplied from Nepal and other fresh ingredients will be managed locally.

According to the company, some new styles of dishes have also been added along with the traditional Thakali dishes aimed at the international customers. Sweets made from chatamari, bara, different types of mamah, gundruk soup, sekuwa, juju dhau and khuwa yamari will also be on the menu.

According to the company, Nepali wood carving, embroidered windows, artistic pillars and materials reflecting Thakali culture have been used in the restaurant. Combining Nepalese architecture and hospitality with modern amenities is aimed at making customers feel Nepali.

The branch has the capacity to accommodate around 90 customers at a time. According to the company, there will also be a branch of Himalayan Java, a Nepali coffee brand already operating in India, in the same premises. The management system of the restaurant will be used by IMS Software, a Nepali software company that has already expanded its service in India. Stating that working with Nepali brands and technology was a conscious decision, Sherchan said that Nepali businesses can compete in the international market and support each other.

Established in 2016, Jimbu Thakali has been providing its services in Nepal through four branches in Kalimati, New Baneshwor, Jhamsikhel and Tangal. According to the company, it has served more than 20 lakh customers so far. The company has a long-term goal of establishing Nepali Thakali food as an international restaurant brand.
