Kathmandu. The newly elected President and Vice-President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) have been sworn in today. The swearing-in ceremony of ICAN President and Vice-President was held at Hotel Royal Tulip, Kathmandu.

Auditor General Toyam Raya administered the oath of office and secrecy to CA Ananda Raj Sharma Wagle, who was elected for the third term of ICAN 10th Council. Sharma was elected president and Kafle the vice-president in the election held on July 16, 2083.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, ICAN President Wagle expressed his commitment to work towards strengthening the credibility of the accounting and auditing profession and enhancing the institutional capacity of the organization. He also pledged to work to accelerate digital transformation and prioritize the business development of its members.

Likewise, Vice President Kafle said that he would lay emphasis on professional ethics, quality auditing, capacity building of young Chartered Accountants and expanding international cooperation.

ICAN office-bearers, members and various business organizations have congratulated the newly elected President and Vice-President and wished him a successful term. Auditor General Toyam Raya unveiled the official logo of ICAN at the event.

On the occasion, ICAN participated in the SAFA Quiz and Public Speaking Competition 2025 organized by the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) in Bangladesh on July 18. On the occasion, Diwas Adhikari and Sampanna Silwal were felicitated as joint winners of ‘SAFA Quiz 2025’, while Rijan Thapa and Kashyap Raj Shrestha who won the ‘Public Speaking Contest 2025’ were also honored.

ICAN is the regulatory body for Chartered Accountants in Nepal. The organization established under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1997 has been engaged in the regulation of Chartered Accountants and Registered Accountants, Professional Standards, Examination Examination, Training and Professional Development Programs.
