Nifra’s profit and EPS both declined, what is the financial situation?

Kathmandu. Nepal Infrastructure Bank (NIFRA) has reported a decline in its net profit. According to the bank’s net profit for the fourth quarter of the last FY, the net profit has decreased by 19.98 percent. The company has earned a net profit of Rs 98.73 crore till mid-July. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 1,234 crore in the same quarter last year.

In the review period, the bank’s net interest income decreased by 23.89 percent to Rs 1.44 billion, while interest expense increased from Rs 56.91 crore to Rs 97.73 crore.

The bank’s profit has been pressured due to the decrease in net interest income and increase in interest expense. However, in the last fiscal year, the bank has revised the impairment charge of Rs 21.27 crore. This has saved the bank from a further decline in profits.

Earnings per share (EPS) also declined along with the bank’s profit during this period. The bank’s income decreased by Rs 1.14 to Rs 4.57. During the period, the bank’s net worth per share stood at Rs 117.22. The bank’s loan disbursement has increased from Rs 24.94 billion to Rs 31.42 billion, while the bank has sanctioned a total loan of Rs 56.13 billion.

Similarly, the bank’s deposit collection has increased from Rs 7.68 billion to Rs 7.83 billion. The total assets of the bank stands at Rs 41.84 billion.
