Kathmandu. The 8th edition of Radio Kantipur National Music Award-2082 is going to be held on July 10. According to the organizers, the prestigious award will be given in 14 categories and Lifetime Achievement Award along with Xtreme Energetic Performer of the Year.

Radio Kantipur organized a press conference in Kathmandu on Tuesday and gave detailed information about the program to be held at The Plaza in Pulchowk, Lalitpur. The concert will feature performances by actors Ujan Sakya, Samriddhi Rai, Mantra Band, Shiva Pariyar, Yaman Shrestha, Salina BK, Sajish Shrestha, Prabhat Lama and Karma Singh Lama.

This year, awards will be given in 14 musical categories. The awards include Best New Singer, Best Music Director, Best Folk Duet Singer, Best Playback Singer and Singer, Best Pop Singer, Best Musical Singer, Best Hip-hop and R-N-B, and Best Modern Singer and Singer. Likewise, a person who has long contributed to the field of music and music for a long time will be awarded with a purse of Rs 1 lakh. There will also be a People’s Choice Award where listeners will also participate in the program. For this, the participants will have to vote through e-Sewa. People’s Choice Award will be given to the song and composer with the highest number of votes.

A jury of three members was formed to nominate 5 of the best Nepali songs from Baisakh 1, 2082 to Chaitra 2082 (mid-April 2082). The nominations in various categories were made according to the decision of the same jury.

More than a hundred artists will participate in this program. Simran Shrestha, corporate and event manager of Kantipur Media Group said, “This award is a common platform for Nepali music industry and it will help promote Nepali music as a whole.
