Kathmandu. The Independent Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (IPPAN) has decided to donate Rs 50 million to the flood-affected people. IPPAN has decided to contribute Rs 50.5 million to the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund.

The IPPAN meeting on Thursday expressed tribute and condolences to the people affected by the massive flood in the Bhotekoshi River and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Expressing sorrow over the loss caused to the ongoing or under-construction power projects due to floods, the meeting decided to extend necessary support in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the projects by coordinating with the government.

Chairman of IPPAN Mohan Kumar Dangi said that the energy sector is connected with the prosperity of Nepal as well as the happiness and sorrow of the Nepali people and stressed the need for member companies to unite and support in the time of disaster. According to him, the cheque for the assistance provided by the hydropower companies associated with IPPAN will be handed over at an appropriate time in the presence of Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha.
