Kathmandu. ‘Nepal CAN Move’ has entered into the e-commerce sector. Nepal, a company known for courier and shipping services in Nepal, has launched an e-commerce platform called ‘Nepalcan. com’.
According to the company’s CEO Sujit Acharya, the platform is currently in the soft launch phase and customers will be able to buy various products through the website from now on. The company plans to make the platform officially public within the next month after making necessary improvements in technical aspects and suggestions received during the test.
Acharya said that the platform is fully owned by Nepal and aims to give priority to domestic products and Nepali entrepreneurs. According to him, the commission taken from sellers on ‘Nepalcan. com’ has also been kept low compared to other e-commerce platforms.
Currently, the platform charge ranges from 2.5 percent to 5 percent depending upon the nature and price of the product. The company believes that when the operating cost of the seller is reduced, the benefit will be passed on to the consumers and the goods will be made available at a cheaper price than the market. There is also an arrangement of up to 47 percent discount on the platform for the customers.
With the launch of the e-commerce platform, Nepal CAN Move has already expanded its courier and transportation network across the country. Acharya said that the goal is to deliver the goods to the customers quickly and effectively through the countrywide courier network which has been in operation for a long time.
According to the company, more than 70,000 products of different categories have been listed on the platform. Mobile phones, gadgets, clothing, baby care, health and beauty products to agricultural and sports goods are available on the platform. So far, more than a thousand sellers have been associated with nepalcan. com.
