Kathmandu. The United States of America has decided to permanently implement the provision of deposits on tourist visas (B-2) and business visas (B-1) for citizens of 50 countries, including Nepal.

According to the new provision, a Nepali applicant will have to deposit $10,000 to $20,000 (about $ 15 to $3 million {{} before getting a visa.Previously, bail was set at $5,000 to $15,000.

According to the U. S. Department of State, the deposit amount will be fully refunded if the visa is rejected or if the visa is returned to the country before the expiry of the visa.

According to the ministry, this provision has been made permanent to control the trend of (overstay) people staying in the United States illegally even after the expiry of their visa. This rule will be applicable to citizens of 50 countries including Nepal, Bangladesh andBhutan from South Asia.
