He was caught by the police, but the way he scammed the bank of 33 crores , if you listen to the list, it is very jarring.
Now let’s understand how agriculture development bank 33 crore 93 lakh 39 thousand 872 rupees?
The incident took place in September 2015. Agricultural Development of the Bank, Swayambhu Branch had daily . Customers were coming, withdrawing, keeping, going . employees were busy with their work. But in the middle of of the bank in a corner of the bank Branch Officer Kedar Prasad Gautam was planning to rob from the bank{{{}} ।
The money was stuck in the land, the relationship with the wife was deteriorating at home. Kedar was shocked by the crisis of money. from the bank {{{} was only enough to support the house. asked for money from friends and . The debt had taken a toll on its head. After that, Kedar made a master plan to rob a large amount of money of bank } at once, pay off the loan of all the friends, and run away to India and stay there. The plan of how to rob the bank was in his mind.
Fake details from the user ID of your colleagues on the bank’s remittance from other branches in the bank’s } branches, and then enter it with your official user ID. After depositing a large amount of remittance in your branch, will deposit it in the accounts of various people and withdraw the amount. Out of the money thus withdrawn, would be given to the }} persons, and the rest would be taken by , the bank was mastered. The Core Banking System (CBS) was not implemented in 17 branches of the bank, so he knew that no onewould know that the money had come from those branches.
However, in order to make this plan successful, we needed someone to open an account and withdraw money. While looking for a loot partner to arrange for such people, he met Krishna Hari Thapa alias Rajiv Thapa, who was involved in networking business and other suspicious activities in India. He narrated his master plan. Thapa also agreed. After that, Kedar will take 33 percent of the looted money, Rajiv will take 33 percent and withdraw money using 33 percent of the account, open fake accounts and give it to the middlemen who withdraw money. After looting the money, no one knows anyone and goes their own way.
Now the work started as planned. Gautam now had to find out the user ID of his friends’ system. Geeta Panta, a female accountant working at the Swayambhu branch, found out the user ID and password of the system she was using. After that, he made a fake remittance entry from Pant’s ID, authorized it from his own ID. On the advice of Gautam and Thapa, a plan was hatched to transfer the fake money to the accounts opened in the busy branches like Putalisadak, New Road, Ratnapark, Mangal Bazaar and Satdobato. Saroj Yadav, Ranjit Bhattarai, Nawanidhi Gurung and Balaram KC have been arrested by using fake citizenship certificates to withdraw the money. An account was opened in the name of. So much so that Surya Bahadur Limbu, who was called to Kathmandu from Sikkim, India, was opened with a fake citizenship and photo of ‘Basanta Rai’.
The money was transferred to those accounts. After Kedar informed his partner Rajiv about the transfer of money to the account, Rajiv used to take the account holders in a taxi to bank, sign the cheque book inside the taxi, withdraw the money, give the account holder’s share, and return with Kedar and his share of the money.
In the greed of commission, the account holders used to go to the bank with fake citizenship and cheques, bring the money and hand it over to Rajiv. In this way, millions of rupees were withdrawn from various branches and in the name of different people. There was no question that the bank would not give cash when the amount was seen in the system. But the amount was only on paper. The bank’s boss and other employees used to return home after office hours, but Kedar used to stay in the office saying that he had some work to do. He used to stay till midnight to make fake remittance entries from others’ user IDs, make authorizations from himself, transfer the money to the account opened according to his plan and go home. The bank kept giving birth to people who came to collect money. The system had a number of , no money. And even after months of this mischief, neither the other banker nor the head office came to know.
Not only the cash payment, Rajiv and Kedar also misused the electronic cheque clearing system through the then Civil Bank, Machhapuchchhre Bank, and other banks to transfer millions of rupees to other banks.Being experienced in banking, Kedar did not have to think much about doing such a mischief. And this happened for months. According to the rules of the bank, every day’s transactions should be adjusted in the evening of the same day. However, no one even got a clue about the fake transaction of crores of rupees in the Swayambhu branch for months.
Kedar repaid the loan with the money withdrawn from the bank and returned the loan to his friends. also had a lot of fun, started partying every day, and started blowing away the looted money. Kedar invited his friends and middlemen to go on a plane, stay in expensive resorts and give lavish parties. In the style of ‘who needs how much money your brother gives’, he lent Rs 5 lakh to someone and Rs 7 lakh to someone who came to ask for it. He used to laugh and say, “It is not easy to earn money, return it on time.” In this way, the robber’s extravagant fun went on for months.
He used to tell his colleagues, “My wife Samjhana has a DV, and soon I will resign from bank and go to America.” He used to say the same thing to his close friends.
In the meantime, he rented an apartment with his wife in Siliguri in Darjeeling district and enrolled his son in a school there. His son’s education in Nepal was also not good, he used to tell his wife that you should go there and educate your son, I will come from time to time. Rajiv Thapa, the partner of his bank fraud, also arranged for his wife to stay. With his help, Kedar made fake Indian ration cards in the name of Prem Sharma and his wife Samjhana Pokhrel made fake Indian ration cards in the name ofSunita Sharma. After sending his wife to India, Kedar rented an apartment in Kathmandu and started living with his younger wife Jenny Shrestha. Jenny was a resident cardholder in Portugal. After marrying her, he was preparing to go to Portugal. However, he had sold the property in his wife’s name and paid the loan, asking his friends to go to America.
For the sake of ease after ,he obtained a citizenship certificate and passport in the name of Tej Bahadur Thapa and changed himself from Kedar Prasad Gautam to Tej Bahadur Thapa. He then opened an account in the then Century Bank, Bhaktapur branch in the name of Tej Bahadur Thapa and deposited the looted amount.
But one day, due to a small mistake, this scam of Kedar came out.
It was 6 p. m. on June 21, 2015. Kedar Prasad Gautam had asked Saroj Yadav to transfer Rs 10 lakh from his account to another account using Geeta Pant’s ID. Now the transaction of that 10 lakh is pending in the system. The next day, at 10 am on June 22, when Geeta Pant came to the office and was opening her system, her boss asked, “Why is the fund transfer of Rs 10 lakh pending last evening?” Why are you not working?”
pant was surprised. There was no such transaction the previous day. But the system showed 1 million pendency. When we searched for vouchers and cheques, nothing was found. After digging into the bank’s core system, it was found that there were dozens of fake remittance entries from Pant’s user ID and Kedar Gautam had approved it. After discovering that the bank had been embezzled millions of rupees , the then branch manager Bharat Bahadur Baniya called the head office, informed the Rastra Bank and also informed the CIB. But by this time, the bank had been scammed to the tune of crores of . After coming to know that was out of the bank, Kedar immediately ran away from there and sent the cheated money to Siliguri of India through various networks of hundi. The case had reached the police. So he hid his old identity to avoid the eyes of Nepal and Indian police. After reaching Darjeeling and Siliguri of India, he made fake Indian citizenship, Aadhaar card and driving license in the name of ‘Prem Sharma’.
He was survived by his wife Samjhana Pokharel and son.But without listening to them, he called Jenny Shrestha, whom he met in Kathmandu, to India, got married and started living in a lavish flat.
But after some time, Kedar’s wife was arrested with the help of the Indian police.Kedar and his younger wife Jenny were also arrested. The amount of jewelry recovered from them, the amount returned as a good citizen from the people who had borrowed from the defendant Kedar Prasad Gautam as a good citizen, the amount deposited in the name of Tej Bahadur Thapa by freezing the account of Tej Bahadur Thapa were recovered during the investigation, but a lot of money is yet to be recovered.
Kedar has been sentenced to 8 years in prison and his partner Rajiv has also been sentenced to 8 years in prison. They are still in jail as they have not been able to pay the amount despite being sentenced. Bharat Bahadur Baniya, Jeni Shrestha Gautam and Suman Bhujel have been acquitted of the charge-sheet. His wife Samjhana Pokharel has already served a month’s jail term. Fake account holders have also been out of jail by spending and some and some fines. Now, the police have completed the investigation and submitted a supplementary charge sheet against Rajiv. (Video)
