The government has decided to increase the salary of teachers and school employees by 10 percent.

Kathmandu. The government has decided to increase the salary of teachers and school employees. Themeeting of the Council of Ministers held on Wednesday decided to increase the salary of teachers and early childhood development teachers , EC D facilitators and schools who are working on federal grants. 

Spokesperson of the government and Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel said that thegovernment has decided to increase the salary grant of teachers working under the federal quota by 10 percent. 

With this, the monthly salary of secondary level teachers has increased from Rs 43,669 to Rs 48,058. Similarly, the salary of basic level teachers has been increased from Rs 34,730 to Rs 38,203. 

Similarly, the remuneration grant provided by the federal government to the ECD facilitators, school staff and school helpers has been increased by Rs 5,00 0 per month.

According to the new provision, the monthly salary of the facilitator has been increased from Rs 12,000 to Rs 17,000, from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 for school helper and from Rs 15,00 0 to Rs 20,000 for an account worker.

Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel has said that this is the first step to solve the problem of school staff and ECD facilitators who are working day and night in the remote schools.“The government is committed to their job security, professional growth and overall career development and is committed to solving the long-standing problems in the field of school education through the dialogue,” he said. 

Minister Pokharel also thanked the Finance Minister for fa cilitating the budget management despite limited resources.
