Kathmandu. Five thousand vehicles were taken to task for violating traffic rules in the Sudurpaschim province in the last month of July. According to the statistics of the Far-Western Provincial Police Office, 5,202 vehicles were taken action in the province during the month.

Spokesperson of the Sudurpaschim Province Police Office, Senior Superintendent of Police Padam Bahadur Bista said that the police collected Rs 4,363,500 from the vehicle action. According to him, 223 road accidents took place in the Far-West in the month of August. Fifteen people were killed and 324 injured. A total of 329 vehicles were involved in the accident.

According to Bista, 181 accidents were caused by driving while nine were caused by alcohol consumption. Similarly, four accidents were due to vehicles, 12 due to pedestrians, 15 due to cattle, one due to weather and one due to road accidents.

“Vehicles violating traffic rules and carrying more passengers and goods than their capacity will be punished. Spokesperson Bista said, “Traffic awareness programs have also been organized to reduce road accidents.” ’

Likewise, the police have impounded goods worth Rs 16.957 million. Likewise, 24 vehicles were seized and Rs 254,500 fine was collected from them. Nine people were also arrested. Three persons involved in the theft of illegal forest products were taken under control and 714 cubic feet timber was seized. Police have collected Rs 126,000 from controlling illegal livestock.
