Kathmandu. The government’s public debt has reached Rs 3.75 trillion. According to the data of the Public Debt Management Office, Nepal’s public debt has reached Rs 2.973 trillion as of mid-August.

The government’s public debt stood at Rs 2,981.70 billion at the end of the last fiscal year. During this period, the government debt decreased as the payment was more than the loan taken.

Out of the total public debt of the government, the internal debt is Rs 1,361.87 billion and the external debt is Rs 1,611.18 billion. The total public debt of the government is 45.05 of GDP.

The government has taken a total loan of Rs 61.05 billion till August and has repaid Rs 70.13 billion. Meanwhile, the government has set a target of borrowing Rs 658.28 billion in the current fiscal year. Out of this, the government has already taken a loan of Rs 61.05 billion till August.
