Kathmandu. The flood in the Kaligandaki River following incessant heavy rains has swept away around 40 houses in Jaljala Rural Municipality-8 of Parbat. The flood occurred due to the rise in the water level in the Kaligandaki River due to incessant rain for the past three days.

According to locals, the floods have caused huge damage in the Farse area and also swept away hundreds of ropanis of arable land.

The flood has also swept away the suspension bridge connecting Baglung Municipality-4 and Farse. The movement of the locals has been affected after the bridge was washed away. Dozens of houses in Farse and Baglung Municipality areas are still at high risk due to the erosion and flooding of the Kaligandaki river.

The locals of the vulnerable settlements have to be shifted to safer places. The administration and security agencies are collecting details of the damage and inspecting the risk areas.
