Kathmandu. A man has been arrested on the charge of transacting hundi worth more than Rs 1 billion. A joint team of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police and the District Police Office, Sunsari arrested one person from Dharan.

The arrested is Jyoti Shahi of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-13 .

He was arrested from Khaireni in Dharan on Thursday, police said. According to the police, he was found to have been involved in hundi transactions worth Rs 1,03,845 (.

Shahi had been running money transfers by colluding with some people and registering them at the Cottage and Small Industries Office, Itahari. According to the police, he had opened accounts in 52 banks, including agricultural development banks and financial institutions.
