Kathmandu. NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal (NADA) has held discussions with the Department of Customs regarding the damage caused to the automobile sector due to the floods in Rasuwa.

A team led by NADA President Surendra Kumar Upreti met with Director General of the Department of Customs, Yamlal Bhusal, on September 22, 2083 and discussed the issue of providing relief and concessions to the affected businessmen.

During the discussion, Chairman Upreti informed that hundreds of vehicles imported from China targeting the Dashain season have been affected due to the severe floods in Rasuwa, Timure and other areas on August 23, 2083. Stating that a large number of vehicles have been swept away by the floods from Rasuwa border point, he urged the government to expedite the process of providing relief and concessions to the affected importers.

Similarly, NADA General Secretary Milan Babu Malla said that more than 500 vehicles have been stopped at the border area due to the non-opening of the border customs on the Chinese side and urged the government to take initiative to facilitate it. He said that even an 11-seater electric microbus has not been released so far and requested for the necessary facilitation.

In response, Director General of the Department of Customs, Yamlal Bhusal, said that homework is being done on the facilities and concessions to be provided by the government to the businessmen affected by the floods. According to him, discussions are being held between the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the modality of providing relief and concessions to the affected businessmen.

NADA Vice-President Abhik Jyoti and Bikram Singhaniya and Secretary Meghraj Poudel were also present in the meeting.
