Kathmandu. Electricity and internet services have been completely disrupted in Mustang. Electricity and internet services have been disrupted in Mustang since Saturday night after floods and landslides triggered by incessant rains damaged electricity and internet infrastructure.

Sun Prasad Thakali, chief of Nilgiri Consumers Cooperative, a Jomsom-based electricity distribution company, said that the 33 KVA electricity transmission line from Dimukha of Parbat has been damaged due to floods, landslides and river erosion following the rainfall. He said that the Myagdi Dana substation has also been shut down due to the lack of charge as the electricity structure in the Parbat and Myagdi sections has been damaged by floods and landslides.

Thakali said that it is difficult to get information about the situation in the northern part of Myagdi as the floods have completely damaged electricity and internet services. Meanwhile, the electricity transmission line up to Beni of Myagdi has been repaired and brought into operation on Sunday evening. Thakali said that a team has already left for Jomsom to further study the condition of the 33 KVA transmission line and Dana substation.

Likewise, a technical team has already left for Mustang to repair the electricity transmission line at some places of Thasang rural municipality-3 in Mustang district, said Chief Thakali. He said that continuous efforts were being made to resume the service disrupted due to floods and landslides and technical teams have been deployed at the work site to resume the service by this evening.

The Jomsom branch of Nepal Telecom has completely disrupted internet service in Mustang for the past 36 hours due to floods, landslides and river erosion caused damages to the fiber internet transmission line. According to Hum Bhujel, chief of the office of Nepal Telecom, Jomsom has said that the internet service has been disrupted due to damage to the fibre net structures at dozens of places in Parbat and Myagdi section.

Stating that the service up to Beni of Myagdi has been made easier after repairing the obstructed structures, he said that the operation has not yet been done in the northern region of Myagdi and Mustang. He said that the repair of the fiber-net transmission line is going on in Baisari of Myagdi and Lete of Thasang.

According to Chief Bhujel, although the optical fibre net service has been disrupted, telephone and 4G services are being operated in some places of Mustang through the GPS radio link of Nepal Telecom. He said that the radio link is operated from Chusang of Waragung Mukti Kshetra-3 of Mustang to Upper Korala Naka with solar technology.

Office Chief Bhujel said that the technical team is working to resume the disrupted optical fibre net service as soon as possible.
