Rasuwa catastrophe: Insurance companies claim insurance worth Rs 26 billion, Finance Minister directs to ease payment

Kathmandu. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has given instructions to make the payment of insurance claims in flood-affected areas easier. Swarnim Wagle has given instructions. Speaking at a high-level discussion organized by the Insurance Authority at the Ministry of Finance, Finance Minister Wagle directed to make the payment of insurance claims simple and easy after the damage caused by the floods.

At a time when the country is in mourning due to the floods, he has also urged everyone to join hands and make a simple and easy insurance claim payment to compensate the loss of the victims.

Directing the government to ease the payment of insurance claims, Finance Minister Wagle also pledged that the government was ready to provide support to the insurance companies if there is any problem or if the government needs anything.

The floods have caused major damage to the hydropower projects and public infrastructure along with private property. According to the data received so far, a total of 583 insurance claims have been received after the floods. The total estimated amount of these claims is Rs 25.87 billion, according to the Nepal Insurance Authority.

The high-level discussion also decided to take steps to facilitate the payment of insurance claims by giving priority to the payment of claims for major and initial damages.
